Moving Images: Audiovisual Representations of Migration and Migrants

June 26 @ 10:00 am 8:00 pm

The Migration and Interdisciplinary Global Studies (MIGS) Research Network is pleased to announce a free, one-day, in-person event exploring migration and audiovisual representation, to be held on campus on Thursday June 26th.

Bringing together academics, artists, practitioners, activists, and community members, this event will showcase diverse audiovisual works created by and with migrants. Via a combination of screenings and panel discussions, we will explore the ethics and aesthetics of creating and presenting audiovisual representations of migration and migrants.

We are particularly excited to be featuring the work of Arts and Humanities colleagues including Benedicte Brahic, Carmen Herrero, Bing Chi Wu, and Audrey Albert. (See Eventbrite link below for the full programme.)

The day will conclude with a special event co-hosted by Christian Klesse, Yener Bayramoğlu, and the Contemporary Intimacies, Sexualities and Genders Research Group: Queer Stories of Belonging. Visual Art, Songs and Media in the Turkish Queer Diaspora.
