Getting the Most out of NVivo
January 9 @ 8:00 am – January 10 @ 5:00 pm
A 2 day in-person training to maximise your use of NVivo.
For complete beginners and for those who have already started using NVivo Develop your skills in analysing qualitative data using NVivo to help you with your doctoral thesis and beyond.
The course provides a comprehensive overview of NVivo by focusing on its core components and analytic capabilities. Students are supported in using the software in guided hands-on sessions, and are encouraged to bring work-in-progress for individual support with analysis.
We discuss common approaches and methods of analysis and how to operationalise these in the software. This provides a framework for planning, undertaking and documenting your analysis.
Learning outcomes
- Feel confident about the importance of methodology and how research objectives drive the use of software.
- Format your data – transcription protocols that maximise NVivo’s functionality, whether working with text, images or audio/video.
- Set up an NVivo project – structuring the workspace in line with your objectives.
- Explore data – in-depth annotation and initial high-level explorations.
- Conceptualise data – interpretive and inductive coding as well as automated coding options.
- Organise data – attaching sociodemographics or other meta-data to the units in your analysis.
- Interrogate and visualise data – uncovering relationships and mapping ideas.
